NCAA Basketball Picks: Sunday Betting Options

Sunday's college basketball slate offers up some interesting betting action. Let's have a look at a couple of NCAA basketball picks where we have found some worth while value.

College Basketball Betting: Selections for Sunday

This Week's Basketball Betting Record: 0-3

Wichita State at Evansville (4:35 pm ET, ESPN3)

Image previewThe Shockers lost five seniors from last year's team, but so far have done a very good job of replacing that production. Wichita State is 15-1 and riding a six-game winning streak. Last time out, though, as 15-point favorites, WSU had to come back from a nine-point halftime deficit to beat Southern Illinois 82-76 Wednesday night.

The Shockers are now 6-0 SU and 3-2 ATS since losing senior F Carl Hall, who was averaging 14 points and eight boards per game, to a thumb injury.

Evansville, meanwhile, with three starters back from last season, is 10-6 and riding a three-game winning streak. Last time out the Aces upset Northern Iowa 62-59 in Cedar Falls as five-point dogs.

A couple of key stats stand out for us on this game; Wichita State is holding opponents to less than 40 percent shooting on the season, and out-rebounding foes by eight boards per game, while Evansville is allowing foes to shoot 45 percent and is getting out-rebounded by about two boards per game.

Let's go check some of the other lines at the betting odds page!

Pick: Take the Shockers at the -3 points offered at Pinnacle.

Maryland at Miami (8 pm ET, ESPNU)

The Terps, who only returned two starters this season, have been beating expectations so far this season. They lost their season opener to Kentucky, but then won 13 in a row, although their toughest foes over that span were probably Northwestern and George Mason. Last time out, though, Maryland lost as six-point favorites at home to Florida State 65-62. The Terps led by nine at the half but went cold, and ended up shooting just 37 percent on the night.

Miami is 11-3, with three wins in a row, and coming off its ?biggest? victory of the season, a 68-59 decision at North Carolina Thursday night. The 'Canes shot 47 percent from the floor and held the Heels to just 40 percent in winning outright as four-point dogs.

Miami is now 4-2 both SU and ATS since losing C Reggie Johnson, who was averaging 13 and 10, to a hand injury.

By the numbers Maryland is shooting just under 50 percent from the field this season, holding opponents to 35 percent shooting and out-boarding foes by a dozen per game, second-best in the country. Miami is shooting 45 percent from the floor, holding foes to 38 percent and out-rebounding opponents by about two per game.

The Terps had a long winning streak snapped their last time out; the 'Canes won a big conference road game at Chapel Hill. We expect reversal performances out of both these teams Sunday.

Pick: Take Maryland at the +6 points offered at Pinnacle.?

Bonus Sports Picks for Sunday: (Saturday's NFL Picks Record: 1-1). For Sunday's first NFL playoff bout, Seattle out-rushed opponents this season by over 60 YPG, while Atlanta got out-rushed by 35 YPG. Take the Seahawks at the +3 points offered at BetOnline.

For the final game of this NFL divisional-round playoff weekend New England had last week off, has home-field advantage and just pounded Houston a month ago 42-14. Take the Patriots at the -9 offered at Bookmaker.

And for those out there who like the ponies we offer a $1 trifecta box on the sixth race at Santa Anita, with the 1, 9, 11 and 12 horses (Bejarano, Garcia, Talamo and Gomez). A $24 bet that, if it hits, might be worth upwards of at least a couple hundred bucks. ?
